First Day of School

Well, it was the first day for everyone but Trevin (kindergarten starts a week later). So here is a picture of those brilliant Coil kids off to save the universe with the vast knowledge they learn at school!

Wedgie

OK so I have a funny little story to tell. You may or may not see the humor in it, depending on whether or not you have brothers or are one....

I slept at JoAnn's (Rick's moms) last night, so I was doing a little catching up with the kids since I missed bedtime with them. Trevin and I had a conversation that went something like this:

Trevin: I gave Layne a wedgie.
Mom: Really, when??
Trevin: Last night.
Mom: Were you guys wrestling around?
Trevin: No.
Mom: What were you doing?
Trevin: Layne was asleep and I gave it to him.
Mom: So does he even know you did it?
Trevin: Nope. (grinning from ear to ear)

I have chuckled about that little conversation all morning, I hope you get a laugh out of it too.

Home Alone

So, I know I just posted, but I have found myself home alone (weird). Rick took the boys to the highschool football team's scrimmage tonight (he helps coach and loves it) and I took the girls out to stay with JoAnn tonight. Some of you may or may not know Rick's mom is battling terminal cancer.
This last chemo was really hard on her and she has needed almost 24 hour care. Britany and Nichole have been angels and volunteered to stay with her once in a while to give Rick and I a chance to be home together. It makes me cry to think of how hard it must be for them to see their "gma" hurt. They are so compassionate in caring for her; helping her dress, cooking meals, doing laundary and checking her medicine; this must have been a gift they were given by their Heavenly Father and I know their Grandpa Dewain smiles when he sees them care for her so lovingly.
As Rick and I have been going through this time in our lives we have learned to draw strength from each other. The strategy is for us to not both have a melt down on the same day....I have often thought of Emma Smith lately and how she cared for her mother-in-law, Lucy Mack Smith, even after she had lost Joseph. I have decided if she was able to make it through her hardships, I will certainly get through ours.
So enough whining, apparently its not so good for me to have a quiet house for extended periods of time.

16 YEARS!!!

So I am a day late, but better late than never right?!? 16 Years ago yesterday (the 14th) Rick and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Now 5 kids later, here we are! I'll never forget getting so sick (nervous) in the entry of the temple that I left to get some fresh air and seeing the look on dad's (Mike's) face when he came out to check on me. Thanks dad for helping me gather my nerves and going through with the best decision of my life!
I remember asking mom once before we were married if she ever ran out of things to say to dad. I was really worried about one day just running out of things to say to my best friend (it hasn't happened if you're wondering!)

So the girls and I had a good laugh choosing a few pictures to post...the family one was unanimous they got a good laugh at Brandon's hair.

Happy Anniversary Honey, I love you....
